Speed Campers is a UK-based company that has been operating since 1997, specialising in the modification and sale of luxury campervans. Over the years, the brand has established itself as the leading supplier of Ford Custom Campervans in the UK, offering both ready-made models and fully customisable campervans tailored to individual needs.

In 2022, the company began expanding its online presence by collaborating with AMW Media, creating professional photos and videos for social media and YouTube to showcase the Speed Campers range. We also managed Google Ads campaigns. However, the results were not satisfactory, highlighting the potential for improvement. This led to discussions about a complete website redesign.

By 2023, Speed Campers faced challenges with an outdated website that failed to meet modern UX, functionality, and system integration requirements. The decision to fully redesign the site aimed to improve conversions, optimise the booking process, and enhance customer service. As part of the project, a custom design was implemented on WordPress CMS with full integration of the AMW Platform, eliminating the need for multiple external systems.

This was more than just a redesign. The primary goal was not only to refresh the website aesthetically but also to enhance its functionality, intuitiveness, and effectiveness in generating leads from potential customers looking to purchase a new campervan in the UK, while also improving the Speed Campers team’s workflow.

2. Challenges and Issues with the Previous Website

As always at AMW Media, the website redesign process started with an in-depth audit of the existing site and detailed discussions with the Speed Campers team. This allowed us to fully understand their current needs and expectations for the new website. This step is crucial to ensure that all website elements are tailored to the client’s specifications and target audience while addressing market challenges. The key issues identified were:

  • Non-intuitive Navigation and UX: The website lacked engaging content and clarity, leading to a high bounce rate. The outdated and cluttered design, with too many menu options, made the web design obsolete and did not meet modern usability standards. The hero section was outdated and failed to capture user attention, reducing conversion rates. The site was static, and the mobile version was unintuitive, making readability difficult, especially for older users. There was no clear categorisation of campervans or easy access to essential information, making it difficult for users to find relevant content quickly. Additionally, the site lacked proper SEO optimisation, both in content and technical aspects.
  • Poor Presentation of Offer and Lack of Social Proof: The website lacked sections with customer reviews, team photos, and social proof, which reduced brand credibility. The offer was mixed between personal vehicles and campervans, lacking a simple and clear view. The campervan image gallery was static and unengaging, while product pages were not optimised for conversions – large text blocks, no icons, and no section breakdown. There was also no visible booking button, which should have been persistent when scrolling. The website did not utilise an Instagram feed or modern visual technologies, making the content static and unengaging. The existing tone was too formal and lacked engagement.
  • Ineffective Google Ads Campaigns: Previous campaigns were expensive and ineffective due to a poorly optimised user journey on the website. The lack of integrated analytics prevented proper measurement of ad effectiveness and adjustment of marketing strategies to actual customer needs.
  • Inefficient Booking and Customer Service Systems: The campervan booking process and communication via chat operated through different, independent systems. This significantly extended the user journey, reducing sales effectiveness. Additionally, business owners had to repeatedly log in to multiple tools, negatively affecting response times and workflow efficiency. This resulted in additional operational costs due to increased staff hours and multiple software subscriptions.

These vibrant, colourful visuals not only capture visitors’ attention instantly but also effectively convey the sense of freedom and adventure – the essence of campervan travel. To inspire action, we introduced a new slogan: “Don’t put your campervan dreams on hold!” This message encourages users to fulfil their travel and adventure aspirations.

We finalised the project by integrating all tools into a unified platform, streamlining booking, communication, and analytics. Using WordPress CMS, we enabled easy content and booking management. A dynamic campervan availability calendar now updates in real-time, simplifying the reservation process for users.

The integration with the AMW Platform automated customer service within a single interface. The integrated booking system allows instant reservations without the need for phone or email contact. AI-powered live chat support was also added. Every customer inquiry is automatically logged into the CRM system, accelerating lead handling and improving sales efficiency.
